Private land stewardship has been an important part of the Bitterroot Valley's heritage since the 1800s. Bitterroot landowners have worked for generations as good stewards of properties that provide viable agriculture, clean water resources, healthy wildlife habitat, and breathtaking open spaces.
Today, many open lands face tremendous development pressures. Private land conservation provides a means for landowners to pass on their legacy of stewardship to future generations.
